The Classics Challenge 2008
I just can't pass this one up... The Classics Challenge 2008 is now open for sign ups and will begin on July 1 and will last through December 31, 2008. There are a few options to choose from, and the goal I've selected is to simply read five classics. Audiobooks are okay, and cross-posting is allowed. Here is my list:
- Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
- The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom
- The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky
- A Night to Remember by Walter Lord
- The Painted Veil by W. Somerset Maugham
Labels: Challenges, Classics, Lists

Wow, you've got some serious books there.
GWTW is an amazing novel. I hope you enjoy it.

You've chosen a few BIG books! Go you! I'm looking forward to hearing you you like Brothers K--I've wanted to read that for a long time, but haven't quite gotten up the courage!
I hope you like The Hiding Place, it is a powerful little book--I just finished Miep Gies's memoir--Anne Frank Remembered (Miep is the lady who helped hide the Frank family in Holland).
Thanks for joining us in the challenge! I look forward to reading your reviews.
I really loved the movie of The Painted Veil and was considering suggesting it to my reading group. Also, Atonement is one of my favorite books. Yesterday I read another of Ian McEwan's books (On Chesil Beach) and loved it too.
GWTW is a one of my favorites. Read The Hiding Place when I was a teenager, after I saw Corrie TenBoom speak about her life.
Might have to join you! Good luck with those books!
